Today it is shimmering

Slowly but surely the light is returning.

Next week I'll do some outfit posts again. Then I'll get to see my bf before it's too dark outside. You see, he's been working a lot. Not that I can blame that for not doing any outfits pictures though.. I've also looked like crap. You kow I have no problems with showing you my very casual daily style, but I'm pretty sure you would not like to see me in my huge wool slippers and even bigger knitted sweaters. Cause that's how it's been like lately. That's all I've been wearing, only accompanied by cups of tee, or hot chocolate.
I feel like it's time to wake up now. Put on a bit of mascara at least, and meet the world a little bit more awake. Next Month is my birthday, and It's kind of a dreaded one. I'm not telling you how old I am, unless you can guess? hehe;) So I figured I need to pull myself together, so that I wont feel like an old scarecrow and get some sort of panic on my day. Booked an appointment at my hairdresser, and also now I'm planning a birthday party. Suddenly I'm just a big optimist, thinking that the rest of this winter will be fantastic.
And then there is spring, and spring is always amazing:)

Have a great weekend, lovelies!

Magnolia

Flowers has invaded my mind. It's like all I can think about is spring, and flowers these days. Maybe the cold winter is making me hallucinate, like people in the desert think they see an oasis, I'm starting to think spring is just around the corner. Looking at theese I can still feel the scent. Have you ever been standing under a Magnolia Tree? It's incredible, they have this sweet scent that is just out of this world. Took them at my favourite place , The Botanical Garden in Oslo, in April.
Om my god how I am longing for spring!

Skin care: winter secrets

Are your face tired of the cold weather? It's easy to get dry, irritated, sore, tight or just dull skin during the winter months. I know all about it, cause I have pretty sensitive skin, and every winter I end up looking like, and feeling like crap. But even though your skin is normal, it needs extra care during the winter season. If the weather is cold where you are, you should use a cream that protects the skin, and maybe gives extra moisturisation. Also give your pretty face the treat of a moisture mask.

So, let me introduce to you my winter favourites! This is what I use on my skin these days.

MD Formulations Critical Care Skin Repair Complex
Serious skin healing! Just before Christmas my face was so dry and sore it actually made me depressed. I've tried a lot, but this baby really helps. This can be used as a serum, under a cream or alone. It can even be used on skin that's just been through rough stuff like chemical peels, and it helps the skin to heal faster. It gives lovely comfort, and deep hydration. I could see improval on my skin after only two days, and it keeps improving.
You can get it on Feelunique
I've bought it from this seller on ebay

MD Formulation Critical Care Shielding Creme
This is a moisturiser that protects the skin from the elements. It deeply hydrates and strenghtens the skin. The best moisturiser I've ever tried. It truly makes my skin feel relieved. Works well on sensitive skin also. I use this one over the one mentioned above.
You can get it on Feelunique
Or cheaper from this seller on ebay

Dermalogica Intensive Moisture Mask
This is pretty intensive, and probably not the right mask for those with oily skin.
But if your skin do feels dry or a bit tight, this is like a little piece of heaven.
Imagine that you are really thirsty and haven't been drinking all day. Then you get a big glass of water. That's the best description I can give you on this one. It quenches the thirst. Only negative thing I can say about it, is that it makes the skin look a bit white right after use. But that evens out after a while. Just don't use it half an hour before attending the party of your lifetime;)
You can get it at Lookfantastic

Decleor Hydra Floral Moisturising Mask
This one works best on dehydrated, normal or combination skin. Can also be used on sensitive.
You can use it like a normal mask, and rinse it of. But the genius with this thing is that you can leave it on during the night. It will only feel like a rich moisturiser, but work like a mask while you are sleeping. Personally I use this in the warmer part of the year, but if your skin isn't extremely dehydrated this is definitely enough.
Smells divine!
You can get it on Feelunique

PS: None of these products are tested on animals. :)

All my skin care tricks I've learned from my skin care guru, Hilde Christina.
She's all sorts of amazing, check her out.

The grey zone

Is your world black/ white?
Or do you believe in grey zones?

Lately I've been thinking a lot about grey zones..
This is what Wikipedia says about the subject:

Sometimes we are stuck between a rock and a hard place, sailing between the Scylla and the Sirens, not sure to AGF, or call a spade a spade or just ignore all drolls! Traditionally the phrase between Scylla and Charybdis has come to mean being in a state where one is between two dangers and moving away from one will cause you to be in danger from the other.

This is the grey zone, the twilight zone, that evening time when things lose their distinction, and every move may be wrong.

  • Remember to keep a neutral point of view.
  • Dont fall between the cracks, into the grey zone.
Hmm..hahaha, kinda disturbing..

Colours of winter

It's freeezing.. Winds from Siberia, and -20 celsius (-4 Fahrenheit following google).
Don't really see the point of outfit pictures, all you'd see is a creature completely hidden inside ridiculous ammounts of clothes. I'm basically covered in black from head to toe, and the only thing peeking out is a bit of my face, which by the way is pretty frozen. At least I don't have to walk like a penguin anymore, I bought myself a superb down coat from Bergans, so I keep pretty warm under that. For the price of that thing I could have bought a designer bag.. Almost sad to think about, but still not, cause a pretty bag wouldn't keep me alive through a Norwegian winter.

Anyway, I know one girl who thrives in the cold though..hehe. Ruby was made for this weather, and she has so much fun playing in the snow. It really is a pretty season, but I'm kinda waiting for spring now.
What about you? Are you freezing your tush off, or loving the madness?
(If you live in a warm part of the planet, can I come visit?)

My style: 2009

Haha, so it's pretty wierd to look at that many pictures of one self.. (Excuse the bombardment). I'll say like I did in a post further down, 2009 will hopefully work as a foundation to make 2010 a better year.
When I started to blog, I never posted pics of myself. And wasn't planning to. Then I tried to learn to be more open;) My outfit posts have been pretty random, and my style has been random too. But now I actually have a plan, on how to build my wardrobe, and to make more of an effort on my everyday style. When you are ill everything just needs to be comfy. But now that I'm getting better I want to evolve stylewise too. You know, feel a little better, look a little hotter, haha:) Oh well, we'll see.

Favourites in 2009 has been striped tops, my pink pants, wedges, studded sandals and harems. My hair has gone through some stuff too, from long with heavy bangs, to shorter with outgrown bangs. Hehe, yeah that's nice. I know many girls are struggling with the same thing, where to put the bangs while it's growing? I think I'll start this new year by seeing my hair dresser, finally I think it's possible to make some sort of a due out of it.

I'm officially over 2009. So over it. Ready for the new and improved!

Ps. Special thanks to this guy for taking lots of photos during the year:)

Something to look forward to

Truth be told, 2009 wasn't my favourite year. Hehe..
I mean come on.. It was the year that MJ died. (!!!)
The year when I did everything I could to get well (if you didn't know allready I have ME), and thought it would work, but I didn't really get as much better as I had hoped. The year when I couldn't afford to go on holiday. The year the summer was too short (it always is though), and the winter too cold. The year I got to do some exciting things, but found out it was totally meaningless (like going to all the fashion shows and events, and ending up feeling like I'd rather just hang out with friends or familiy). The year when stuff in my personal life just didn't turn out the way I wanted, I guess you can say..
But now at the beginning of a new year, I realise that 2009 gave me a pretty good foundation to make 2010 so much better. I guess that's just the type of person I am, I have to try and fail a bit. So now I know what to do, and you better believe I'm going to have some serious fun in 2010! :) And so should you. Forget about going on a diet or finding the man of your dreams, getting the perfect job at Vogue or winning the lottery. Haha.. Just decide to make this new year really fun! I think we'll be able to do that, right?;)

Oh, and the pics are of The Dead Sea. It's the first thing I have to look forward to in 2010. I'm going to Israel in April, and already I'm about to die of excitement.

Recipe: Healthy, tasty breakfast pancake!

I never thought I'd be the kind of blogger who posts recipes, but I guess I was wrong, hehe:) This one is simply too good for me to keep by myself. Tastes lovely, and best of all..very, very healthy. This is perfect if you want to loose weight (or just keep your weight), it's full of proteins and very low on carbs. The cinnamon makes the mtabolism work fast and also clears out toxins. I eat this several days a week, cause it's tasty, easy and healthy. Perfect any time of the day, for me it usually works as a lunch. You should try it.

2 tablespoons of oatmeal or rolled oats
1 tablespoon of Cinnamon
Just a little bit of water
A pinch of Cardamom
2 tablespoons of Cottage Cheese
2 eggs

Blueberries, or any type of berries:)

Whisp it all together, and poor into a medium hot pan (use a bit of butter). Fry like a Omelet.
Be careful so that it doesn't burn.

Put it on a plate and add loads of your favourite berries. Remeber berries are full of antioxidants, which keeps us healthy and makes our skin look good. So use lots of it! ;) In summertime I use fresh strawberries, but now I use frozen blueberries that I just put into the microwave.
On top of the berries I like to put some fruit sugar with vanilla. I don't use sugar, and neither should you, fruit sugar is a lot better for the blood sugar. I keep my fruit sugar in a box together with vanilla sticks, so that it gets a real nice taste. Yum.

My style: White Christmas

I hope everyone that was wishing for a white Christmas is happy now? :)
We sure do have enough of snow, and tonight we are expecting even more. I'm holidaying at my mothers, just relaxing and playing with the dogs. Ehem..and eating. I have gluten allergies, but my mom made me gluten free krumkaker (Christmas cakes), and now I've eaten the whole box.. That's what happend when you are not used to eating cakes. Oh well, some kilos of marzipan too of course. I don't eat meat like the rest of the family, so no rib for me, so I figured I'd make up for it in sugar;)

Christmas isn't about what kind of presents you get, so I wont talk much about that. But I will tell you that I got some warm stuff, like this green scarf, I got the cd I wanted (hehe, now I know who reads my blog) and another cool cd as well, and scented candles, among nice gifts. So now I have all I need to enjoy the rest of the holidays.

It's been really nice to hang out with the family. That's what it's all about, the people you love.
It's also about giving, and thinking of those who doesn't have everything. I could have done like many bloggers and given away calendar gifts in December, but I didn't. Sorry you guys, but I did something better. All the stuff that's been given to me through blogging and going to fashion events and PR agencies I gave away to "Alternative Christmas". That is an arrangement held for those who doesn't have somewhere special to go and celebrate. I had a whole bunch of makeup and products that I gift wrapped and handed to the good people who arranges this. Many people and also stores have donated gifts, and some lovely volunteers worked through the Christmas days and made it all possible. That is what's made me the most happy this Christmas, knowing that someone who needs it is taken care of.

The element of freedom

Dear Santa: Will you please make sure someone gives me Alicia Keys' newest album for Christmas? Please, pretty please..
If not I must do illegal downloading (..I mean I promise to delete the files if I get the cd).
It MUST be the best album that's come out in like forever!!

Tonight I saw Obama!

Don't you just love it when you really feel like the luckiest person in the world? Tonight I feel like that, it's been such a cool night! As you know Obama is in town, to recieve the Nobel Peace Price. I wasn't sure if I'd even be able to get a glimpse of him, but I did. My friend Ingrid and I went downtown to stand in front of Grand Hotel where Obama was expected to wave from the balcony. I'm glad we came early, we ended up standing right in the front, and there was about ten thousand people there.
Obama fans, curious viewers, a huge torch parade, and way, way back a demonstration.
It was all peaceful though, like it should be. Barack and Michelle showed up smiling, and they were so beautiful. I just love them. Wonderful night, and I guess something to tell the grandkids if I ever get some;)

These last few days

Hi lovelies!:) Maybe you've noticed that I haven't been updating these last days? Well, I've had my reasons.. What you see on the picture above is where I've spent most my time lately. I've been sick. Really sick. (I'll spare you for the details). Couldn't even blog, read or watch tv. But today I'm feeling better, so I'm dragging myself back to life.

Which is a good day to get out the door. A very good day indeed. You see I have a date with the President. THE President. The most gorgeous man on the earth, some might say. Me included. Undeniably the hottest man on the planet. Me and thousands of others are going to see him tonight. Can't wait:)
