Complex Geometries

ss 2010

Complex Geometries photographed by Jak & Jil

Complex Geometries is one of those brands that I really like. Not like "yeah..they do something cool every now and then", but more like "wow, they're always cool". Hehe, very analytically put.
This is actually in the category that I would be in if I were a designer (I think.. and hope..), when I was in fashion school I did clothes in a similar style to this. She said modestly...ehem. I'm far from genius like this though, but I do know how to make some draped-assymetrical-creative volumes type-pieces;) So since I haven't really been making clothes much these last years, it's very inspiring for me to see this. Cause it makes me feel like I might want to start letting my sewing machine do some work again.
Lately all I've been doing is simple stuff, like leggings and tops. For those of you who don't know, I've been struggling with health problems for a few years now, so that's why all of the designing has been put on a shelf. It's too much work, to be a designer is more than a full time job, it's a way of life. I don't have that much energy, and honestly..I do like to have a life. There's more to life than designing and sewing after all. So for now I'm not even dreaming about being a designer. But there's always room for a hobby:) And now I really feel like making myself something cool, maybe inspired by Complex Geometries?

Ps. You know you have seen the leggings before... Just saying. Mohaha..

My style: Grandma

Soemtimes, it doesn't happen very often, but sometimes I just get sick of it all (fashion wise that it) and feel the need to go classic. I'm wearing these boots all the time, I call them grandma boots, and i guess this particular day I went all grandma. Don't ask me why. I'm not sure if this makes me look like a little girl, or an old woman but who cares..:)
I've had a cold these days, and also broke a tooth. Quite a lot of pain in other words.. Not feeling like being photographed much. Did some comfort shopping yesterday that I couldn't afford. Then felt bad about it and bought some christmas presents to make up for it. Yeah, that was logical.. hehe. But you know shopping always helps;)
Speaking of shopping, I'm very much waiting for some packages. Ebay wins. Checking the post every day, hoping for surprises. Can't wait. That's the good thing about ebay shopping, you get more than just one shopping rush (like when shopping in a regular store). First you get a rush when you find something really cool, then nerves while bidding, a second rush when winning, days or weeks checking the mail in excitement and then the big day when it arrives. <3>
Also waiting for a certain magazine that I'm featured in..kinda exciting. I'm rooting for the rest of this week, lets hope it will be good;)

Wearing trench from Victor & Rolf for H&M (that good o'l thing), boots from Din Sko and hat and scarf from H&M.

My style: Darker for colder

I'm afraid fall is slowly turning into winter.. For those of you who doesn't live as far up north as I do, I can tell you that sunset starts at 16.30 these days... And it will continue to get darker.. Brrr.. And colder.
I refuse to start wearing bublejackets, mittens and mountain boots..yet. So I dress in layers, underneath everything, I wear wool anything. It helps.

We took a walk on Oslo's most popular walking spot yesterday, the new Opera. Well, it's not that new anymore, but we Oslo citizens still love to hang out there. Personally I just like to pretend I'm a tourist in my own city, it makes the everydays more fun. This buildings architecture is very nice, and you can walk on the roofs while looking at the sea and the city. I like to walk around inside there too, very calming place. Inspired by glasures.. Icy cold country I live in..

Wearing boots from Din Sko (yeah i now, I wear them all the time), wool wrap cardigan from H&M, tie dye tank from Gina Tricot, leggings from BikBok, bag bought in random store in Paris (love it just beacuse it brings good memories) and necklace from Dyrberg/Kern.

From Russia with love

Churches from Kizji and Vytegra, Russia.

I see it as my duty to share it with you guys whenever I "discover" something beautiful. That's why I'm blogging Russian churches today. I saw the first one on a TV program the other day, and was totally fascinated. Had it on my mind for a couple of days, until I just had to google it. Then I also found the white one. So now I've been googleing Russian churches this Friday evening. I'm not surprised that they have incredible churches over there, but still...I'm just very impressed by these. The first one is from Kizji, an island in the Lake Onega. It's made of wood, and it really reminds me of traditional Norwegian architecture, except of the domes which is very excotic, and very Russian in my eyes. The two last ones are from the district of Vytegra.
I must go to Russia one day. It's definitly on my list of places to go.

Lust

I know you are wondering.. Who made these amazing pieces of art?
These pretty things are scarfs and they are designed by the talented illustrator Artaksiniya. She also has a blog, wich is full of fun illustrations. To get how cool these scarfs really are you have to check out the details, there's intricate illustrations that's been kaleidoscoped. The scarfs are actually huge, and made of silky fabrics.
You can get one here.
