Finally something that makes my heart beat faster.
A couple of times a day now I check out all the sites who posts pics from all the shows, and nothing really got to me until now. It might just be me, but I feel like it's all getting a bit..I don't know. . just not exciting. I'm a bit sick of trends I guess. It just seems more refreshing with something that's clean and just nice. And this collection by Lanvin sure is. Simple, luxurious and beautiful. It's just perfect. Adore the simple silhouettes, the tones, the textures and the fabrics. Love.
Judging from the collections from NY Fashion Week so far, it's going to be a white summer.
Lovely.
.
I love this beautiful collection from Doo.Ri, it's so clean and and the garments looks like heaven to wear. Adore the different light shades, and the easy feel to it all. And I'm dying over the cream silk pants..
Of course I love this. Of course. I think he has toned down his designs a bit, some of these looks are really just chic and very wearable. I read that he was inspired by art deco, and I'm amazed cause when I knew that I could see the influence, but I would never have guessed when I first saw the collection. And that's pretty genius of Gareth Pugh I think, he can take an inspiration source and do something completely new with it. Season after season this guy delivers incredible collcetions. Gareth Pugh is at least one of my favourite top 3 designers.
Sorry about the headline. I just couldn't resist, I mean look at these people. They are dangerous! Haha.. So now we're talking. Milan fashion week and I found only two collections I felt like blogging about (told you it wasn't my favourite fashion week). But then came Paris. Which kinda always is my favourite fashion week, at least the one I look forward to the most. Excited like the little geek that I am. So first day of Paris, and the first collection to get on Style, and I'm already liking it. Let's forget for one moment that we are waiting for spring and longing for light colours, and pretend it's fall, and we all know we get cravings for black in fall.
Gucci and Pucci. I must admit Milan Fashion Week isn't my favourite fashion week.. Italian fashion is.. uh.. it's just so far away from Scandinavian aesthethics as you can possibly get, I guess? And let's face it, I'm Norwegian. If I were a rockstar hanging out with Diddy on his yachts or something, I'd probably do Italian. I mean, Italian fashion is so glam. And with way too much skin showing. And when I say skin, I mean both human skin and other skins. Too much fur, too much bling, too much sex. That's just my personal taste of course. I'm a down to earth Scandinavian, and I don't speak Italian. Always have to go through every show from every fashion week though. And with a couple exceptions, Milan didn't really make my heart pound. What I do like is Gucci's one toned looks, with those gorgeous suede hiiigh boots. The coats are amazing, so chic. Also like Emilio Pucci's dramatic stuff. That blue gown is so dreamy, and I know for fall I'm all into that dark folklore thing. In common they both did some tailored pants, and I'm not a fan of flaired pants in general, but when they are executed as beautyfully as these, I'm all for it.
This is the first time Soyaaulait shows on fashion week. This designer uses inspiration and techniques from two worlds, Asia and Norway. The highlight for me was the prints. Loved the fresh colours. And I like the tulip shaped coats, very girly. But if I'm going to be critical I'll just have to qoute Olivia and say "too matchy- matchy". The styling could have been more interesting, maybe? Also I'd love to see the designer go a bit more crazy, but I can also understand that she is thinking about the customers, and the Norwegian market isn't excactly wild. All in all, pretty, but I think this girl has more to offer. And I'm looking forward to follow her future work.
Here's some of my pics from Tina H's show. I was really looking forward to this collection, because Tina is really talented. As you can see her style is a combination between nostalgic and playful, and she has a special way of mixing fabrics, textures and colours. Her pieces just ooses of good craftmanship. I' d love to own some of her silky, glittery stuff. Imagine it styled with something rough like jeans or leather to give it contrast.. Sigh.
Saw Fam Irvoll's show last night, and as always it was crazy fun. Fashion show and circus in one. And concert. Before the show it was pretty insane, a lot of people and confusing seating, I think it took one hour to get everyone seated, and even then people were standing in the back. Fam has become very popular, and that's not surprising since her shows are like parties. Very colorfull parties:) Fam has been known for making childrens clothes for grown ups, but this season she also made a small collection for kids. The small catwalk models were probably the highlight of the show, everyone thought they were supercute.
