H&M + Comme des Garcons.

Hmmm...?

Synd men sant.

It didn't take off in Oslo at all like the H&M design collaborations have done before. I didn't have the chance to take part of the early morning lining, but I stopped by a couple of hours later, sure it would be all empty, but almost the whole collection was still hanging there! And just about no people in sight.. Weird.
I've heard, and read, that this years design collaboration didn' t become quite as popular as the former ones. Some blame economy, some say that Comme des Garcons is too avant garde for "ordinary" people, but I think it was the designs. Sorry, but it wasn't really THAT good, was it? There were some great stuff there, off course, the suits and the trenches were beautiful, and I liked one of the deconstructed jackets. I was disappointed at the collection though. I adore Rei kawakubo for her creativity and love H&M for being my ticket to fashion. But, in my opinion, this was not the best collaboration H&M has done with a designer. Some of the fabrics were not very good, and I didn't like the overlock finishings that were used on some items. I guess I just have to realize, that for me who has a thin wallet, it's simply impossible to get Japanese avant garde design of the best quality. Sad but true. I did buy one thing though, a cardigan. Not the most exciting, I know, but nice and warm, and I will now give polkadots a try, for the first time.

I went for something practical and warm, maybe because I was freezing that day..

What did you think about the collection?
And did you buy anything?

Hmmm. Strange! Here in Amsterdam the female range was sold out in less than 20 minutes. But maybe that tells more about the fashion sense of Dutch than about the quality of the Comme des Garcons collection.

I bet many people just buy it because it is affordable and because it is labelled as CDG.

Well - I've never bought anything in a Hennes collection before, when there was a guest-designer...Karl Lagerfeld was a setback for me - Just the V&R collection seemed ab-fab but the blouse I wanted was never seen in any of the Hennes shops in Antwerp - and I mean, we have about 5 or 6 Hennes shops !!
Madonna's collection - bad material and Cavalli is just not my style (I do own a Cavalli dress and each time I see it hanging in my closet I'm like : what was I thinking !!)
Yesterday had rushed in 1 of their shops and I saw this wool sweater hanging and I like it !
Looked more like a Bellerose to me but hey...I don't care...it feels lovely, it's 100% wool and yeah, I like it !
Best guest designer collection so far for me ...
