I've been thinking for days on how to do this, and what to say, but I can't really say anything. I'm afraid I mights start to cry now.. It seems strange I know, but denoto.blogspot.com has been a huge part of my life for more than two years. And this was the place where I found inspiration to take a new direction in my life. Blogging has been a tool that have helped me to stay focused on what I want. And you readers have given me so much positive, you don't even know..

I hope you'll keep following me on my new blog.

It's not completely finished yet, but almost. I'm waiting for my domain, but the blog is up.

All of a sudden it is very much November.. I'm not a fan of this time of year in particular, which you can probably see on my face (...). It's not easy to dress allright when it's cold outside. You want to look nice, but you don't want to freeze your tush off.. I'm lucky though, some nice people at DNA sent me a gift certificate and I ended up getting these high boots. They keep my legs warm for sure, and I think they look pretty too. I figure if I wear them with a long coat I'll be all covered. ;)

After a year of searching for a grey wool hat with the right shape, going through ebay and all the vintage stores in Oslo, I stumbeled upon this one at H&M.. Leave it to those guys to know what people want. You know the hat is the perfect accessory, especially when it's cold. As long as your head is warm, you'll fell pretty warm all over, don't you think?

One of my favourite things to do when I travel is to visit religious buildings.

My best memory from my Paris trip is actually Notre Dame. After a long day of sightseeing and shopping, we went into the cathedral, and it was like someone turned of a button or something. Or maybe they turned it on.. We came in there and all of a sudden everything was quiet and peaceful. Such a contrast to the city outside. And then there's something about that gothic architecture, that makes you feel very humble.

I think it's so fascinating to see how much they put into the churches back in the day, even though a society might have been poor, the churches was rich. So much art and beauty in one place, it's like you can feel how important the building was for it's people.

After that visit to Notre Dame, religious buildings are somethning that I always have to visit on trips. And when I'm there I light a candle for a special person, and maybe I buy a little thing, like a cross.

The rosaries on the pictures are memories from good travels. The black one is from a stunning basilica in Malta, called The Mosta Dome. And then there's a couple from the St. Stephen's Basilica that we checked out on our Budapest trip.

Ok, so since I still get questions about these shoes, I thought I'd make a post where I answer all of the questions in one place. If you didn't know already, they are from Jeffrey Campbell, and the style is called "Lita". I ordered mine from Solestruck. They are very popular tho, so I had to preorder months in adwance. I see they are sold out in this colour right now, but they'll probably restock, I guess. They fit true to size, I use 37, and got them in 7, and they fit me like a glowe. And, they are comfy to walk in. I swear. As comfy as tall shoes can be.

It's very typical me to be in a hurry.I don't like to admit it, but it's true. When I was a kid my dad used to say that I was born ten minutes late, and was still trying to make up for it.

Even though I feel like I do things pretty fast at times, it doesn't seem like I have scored any extra minutes just yet.

Anyway..I guess I prefer to call it spontaniousness. :)

Fur is for animals

These last days there have been a lot of focus on use of fur in Norwegian media. Horrible pictures have been shown from Norwegian fur farms, and in politics they discuss if that industry should be illegal. I'm not going to post heartbreaking photos, neither am I going to talk politics. I could write for hours about the subject, cause it's something that I'm passionate about, but I'm not going to preach to you guys. All I want to say is that I wish everyone will take some time to think about animals. Just think about them. They are living creatures with needs and hearts, just like you and me. But on the contorary of humans they do no wrong. I just think it's very important that we protect them.We can't have animal abuse in a siviliced society.

Everybody's talking about Lanvin

I wasn't going to post about the Lanvin for H&M thing, so why am I? Haha..

First I have to say I'm kinda fed up with the designer collaboration idea in general, and the last couple of them that H&M did was crappy in my opinion.

Lanvin is brand that I have a lot of respect for, and I admire Alber Elbaz always elegant designs. But Lanvin for H&M...? Luxury on a budget..?

Now that pictures have been posted on blogs and we've gotten to see the lookbook, I'm starting to fell pretty positive. I'm not gonna stand in line on an early winter morning to fight over a bunch of coctail dresses tho. I don't need coctail dresses. Well, maybe just one..? Allright, allright..I'll probably be there. And I hope to get to try out one of those draped lbd's. Other than that I have to say this yellow piece is quite convincing.

What do you think about this whole thing? Excited? Or just tired of the hype?

It's so pretty outside now!

After a few dark and rainy days the sun started to shine, and lit up all of those gorgeous golden colours. And it all looks magical.

I want to be outdoors as much as I can, and enjoy these precious moments of sunshine before winter comes and takes it all away. It's important to recognize beauty when it's there, and really just enjoy all things good when we can. I love days like this!

I'm pretty much a strictly red type of person when it comes to nails. I like blood red, to darker shades like rogue noir.

But I got these the other day, and I might have to try to mix it up a bit.

The beige is very trendy and all, but I think the teal could be cool. Not sure.. What do you think?

I thought it would be a good idea to show you some budget goodies from the showrooms.

After all, most of us has a limit on how much we can spend.

Personally I really like the envelope clutch from Cubus, I think I'll buy that one for spring. And the playsuit is cool too. Like many others Cubus are doing a lot of soft neutrals, like nudes and powder. They had a maxi tank dress in nude which will look pretty next to tanned skin, and that blazer you see on the pic was nice, made in a good fabric in comparison to most low price blazers you'll find.

This week is pressweek in Oslo, which means that the PR agencies are doing open showrooms, where press, bloggers and stylists can come and check out next seasons products.

It's kinda fun, meeting people, eat and drink and look at stuff, but kinda exhausting too.

But I've finally got some rest, and are ready to post some pics.

These are from Camilla Bruerberg's collection. She was the newcomer of the season on fashion week. I like her stuff, it's menswear, but I can picture it on girls (meaning: me) as well. She specialises in knit, and it was nice to see the garments up close, cause the patterns are very unique.

Am I the only one who jumps of joy when I find a green , mid-lenght, vintage dress that looks like a slalom suit from the 80s?

I found this in the vintage section in the Weekday store, and felt like it was made for me. Love that colour. And love semi tacky 80's stuff, can't help it. I think it will be thrown under the sewing machine eventually, it could be pretty cool as a short dress too, minus the belt, but first I want to use it like it is for a while.

I just wanted to say a few words to you guys, just in case you didn't know already.

When I first started blogging, it was basically because I was struggling with an illness, which prohibited me from living a normal life. So I couldn't work, and I didn't get to meet people that often. Actually it was all a real sad period. So I decided to start a blog, just to have something to do. And to have a place where I could feel creative, and collect some inspiration.

I never thought that anyone would even read my little blog.

And I never knew how much fun blogging would be!

Now that everything is better, and I've slowly but surely taken my health back, I realise that this blog has been a part of my recovery. And most of all I feel like having a connection to others that have the same interests as myself has been very inspiring.

So what I'm trying to say is that I really appreciate you guys. More than you know.

I feel like it's time that I tell you how grateful i am, that you take your time to stop by.

Every little comment, and every mail I get from you just makes my day. And if you're a "silent reader" than that's great too.

Warm and dark red is so gorgeous for fall, don't you think? It' something about the deep tone that reminds me of something like feminine sophistication. Just a little splash of the colour is enough to make a statement, and can push an otherwise bland outfit to the next level.

Hair clips

Another way to pull the hair back.

Both Carolina Herrera and Cynthia Rowley used hair clips on their models during fashion week, and I think it looks real nice. Shown on the pictures are Carolina Herrera's version, which is my favourite, where the clips looks like hair. Not to difficult to imitate, just buy some huge hair clips in the right shape, pull your hair back and clip it.

I'll be keeping my eyes open for clips now..

I just got this powdery coat yesterday. I'm really trying to by coats and jackets in other colours than black, and even though I was a bit doubtful when I bought it, it's been growing on me through the day. Also it has this loose type of fit that is comfy, but doesn't make me look like a small hobbit like the really oversized coats does. Kinda look forward to wear it next to creamy knits and big scarfs. My favourites are the gloves though, as long as I can remember leather gloves has always made me feel very feminine. Maybe cause it reminds me of my mother, and how I held her leather covered hand as a child.

You can't get everything you want

Tonight I just lost these two beauties in ebay auctions.. Blah.

The upper one is from Bottega Veneta and in my eyes it's just perfect. I've been craving a Bottega Veneta clutch for ever. Such an expensive brand tho.. So when I came across this pretty vintage piece on ebay yesterday I almost fell of my chair. Decided to stop bidding on the other one, which is from Fendi, also vintage, and go for the even better Bottega. After all I couldn't afford both of them.. And I was bidding on a Oscar de la Renta scarf as well allready, and I..ehem..just bought an Escada blouse yesterday..so I thought to myself that I shouldn't get gready.

Anyway..woke up this morning, threw myself over the computer and found out I lost it. And the scarf as well.

Annoyd the hell out of me. But that's how it is, you can't get everything you want.

Today I took my new shoes out for a stroll. Had a little bonding time you know. And I'm pretty sure we'll become best friends. I'm surprised how comfy they are to walk in. And and I get really tall in them, almost as tall as bf, haha. Prepare yourself to see a lot of them the time to come.

And yeah, the hat.. If you like attention, just wear a big hat. It gives random people an excuse to stare and come with remarks. A dad out on a walk with his kid stopped and said "Så fjong du var da!", (lol), which just can't translate, but it would be a very old lady way of saying I looked nice.

Finally something that makes my heart beat faster.

A couple of times a day now I check out all the sites who posts pics from all the shows, and nothing really got to me until now. It might just be me, but I feel like it's all getting a bit..I don't know. . just not exciting. I'm a bit sick of trends I guess. It just seems more refreshing with something that's clean and just nice. And this collection by Lanvin sure is. Simple, luxurious and beautiful. It's just perfect. Adore the simple silhouettes, the tones, the textures and the fabrics. Love.

Just picked up these at the Post Office.

And I'm so happy about them! Preordered them in July, so I've been waiting for a while for them to arrive. Was kinda worried about the size, but they fit perfectly. They are pretty hazardous though. I was planning to wear them on my girl Cecilie's birthday party, but now that I've tried them, and walked a bit around the living room, I don't think they'd go well with wine..

Croatia

All i want to say is that if you haven't been in Croatia, you should go.

We stayed at the island Brac, in a small, old town called Bol. Rented a car and drove around the island to get a look. Went on top of the high mountains, and also checked out a few of the pittoresque little towns by the sea. Agreed Bol was the best place though, and decided to stay there and just chill for the rest of the week.

There were so many pretty beaches, big and small, dressed and naked.. Something for everyone, If you hate tanning lines then hey.. Very relaxed atmosphere for sure. I had heard that Croatia has the cleanest water in the whole Europe, but I didn't really understand the fuss until I saw it myself. You can see the bottom of the sea now matter how far you swim. And that turqouise colour..so pretty. Other than that I think I should brag about the cousine. I ate grilled fresh fish and buttered rice every day. And the wine..amazing.

I'm pretty sure we'll go back there one day. Actually really loved it:)

The white dress

There's nothing special about this outfit, except that it's my favourite in the whole world;) Very simple, just a white cotton dress and sandals.. But the reason this is the best thing I can imagine wearing is just because of the days I get to wear it. It's my sunshine outfit. My holiday dress. This is what I put on the days when it's real warm and everything is wonderful. What can be better than sun, sea and a easy white dress?

Would you believe me if I told you this is all I've been doing the last week?

It's true.. :)

I haven't been on a computer, watched TV or even listended to music for a whole week.. Brought a couple of books, but didn't read them.. Not a single newspaper either. And I shut down my mobile so no one could reach me. No disturbances.

I was too occupied by listening to the sound of the waves. And that's how a holiday should be like, I think. Total relaxation.

So now, after soaking up D-vitamines, laying around with nothing but a bikini and salt water on my skin, I actually feel rested. It's the best thing in the world. And I wish that feeling for everyone.

Take time for yourself, and just enjoy life:)

This has been such a hectic day, but managed to squeeze in a little photoshoot for you guys. Unfortunately it was almost dusk, so the light was almost non existent. It's a bit scary to see how it gets dark earlier and earlier these days. I don't like that, I'm a summer person, and I love when it's light out almost 24/7.

Tomorrow is bf's birthday, and on Saturday we'll be going on holiday. Hurray!

Until then I have a lot of preparations to do.. Speaking of..when I was out shopping for a birthday present, I found this ring at H&M. Made me happy. It's plastic but I don't care, cause it's pretty. Small pleasures:) Also got this nailpolish, inspired by Hanneli of course. It's from Depend, but I wouldn't reccomend it. It needs about 5 layers to get good coverage.. But I also saw another one from Isadora, from a collection called graffiti colours. It was really nice, lemon yellow. So that will be the next try.

Monday, and I've had a good start on what I think will be a good week. Went shopping, and got really happy, haha. But not only that, discovered all the pretty colours that's evolving on the trees. Fall is beautiful, as long as it isn't cold. And today was sunny and just perfect. Speaking of temperature, I'm going on holiday in just a few days now..to a warmer place. I'm so excited:)

When I finally got out today, more than ready for some fresh air I had no clue what to wear. I wish I could be the type of blogger who could come with smart tips and trikcs on how to dress for the changing seasons ore whatever, but when it comews to that, I'm just not your girl. I mean what is up with the weather? It's hot, windy, chilly and then hot again all during five minutes. My strategy was to wear removeable layers, but I think it's time to stop flashing bare skin now. Probably should go up to the attic and drag out all the fall and winter clothes. Unfortunately..

Sentimental as I am I can't help but feel a certain melancjoly about the seasons changing.

Norwegian summer is like a dream, very light and beautiful.. and over before you know it.
I spend all the dark winter longing for this. It's almost like having a crush on someone you can never get.. And you know the only way to cure a broken heart, is to travel or go shopping. I intend to do both. Soon. Finally we have the time to go to a warmer place, and I can't wait. And when I come back, I'll abuse all my money, hurry up and get rid of them, and hopefully get some new nice fall clothes. At least I'll stay warm while I'm waiting for next summer.

I'm so happy about the way the trends are going this season. Out with the trashy, in with the classy. (I just came up with that! haha) Seriously, I can't remember the last time ladylike, chic, and elegance has been this present in fashion, and it's about time if you ask me. I'm all for innovative design, but there's something about timeless and classy clothes. Chic never goes out of style. I have a few books on Haute Couture and icons of the 40's and 50's that I just love to look at, and dream, dream away to the days when elegance was an art form. Christobal Balenciaga, Christian Dior...aahh. Not to mention Coco Chanel who practically invented the word chic.

Todays women might have a few things to learn from that generation.

Combine that sophistication with modern design and you have a winner. Like in this editorial, pretty isn't it?

Went to see the Nina Jarebrink show yesterday, and despite the fact that it was outdoor and raining we had a great time. Good thing they were very generous on the coctails and champagne, haha. Everyone got rain ponchos to put on top of their nice little outfits, and the vibe was good. Jarebrink makes simple, pretty, and commercial clothes, and I found the collection to be very nice. Summery and chic, who can say no to that, huh? I saw some pieces that I want for next summer, like the coral shoes. They came in beige too, by the way. The fabolous Lise Karlsnes did the entertaining, and she looked totally gorgeous. Her outfit is from Jarebrinks fall collection, which is also really good. High waisted velvet pants, cool!

This years debutant, Camalla Bruerberg delivered a good, strong collection.

She's inspired by techniques from the East, and specializes in knit. She uses mainly natural materials, which you could tell cause the garments hang very nicely on the guys. And it all had a slight eccentricity about it that I really like. I though it was both refreshing and cool. Simple but yet not.

Once again it's OFW, and it started with the official opening yesterday. Got to see Montèe with the Oslo's own style icon Maja Vik, a trend show, this years debutant and plenty of well dressed people, among them Mariann who's such an innovative spirit. And most importantly, we got as much bubbles and heu derves we could take, and yes, that's the reason for the big smile in the first pic;)

Tonight starts the shows, I'm planning to see a few, and then there's one I'll just totally ignore (not mentioning names, haha).

Some girls like glitter

I bought this sweater on ebay almost a year ago, and when it came I was quite satisfied with all the glitter on it. Imagined I'd wear it a clear winterday, doing ice skating. Even though I haven't been anywhere close to having skates on my feet the last 15 years, I kinda believed it would happen. So I've barely used it, cause I was waiting for my debut as an ice dancer. Call me silly if you want, I blame it my lively imagination. :D

Actually had to go until this warm August night to realise it's time to use it. After all it's silk and angora, which makes it one of the very few sweaters I can tolerate wearing. I can't stand itchy wool, if you haven't tried it, let me tell you silk blend knits are the way to go.

After being ill for some days I decided it was time to put on a skirt, and try to hav some fun. I think that's a good trick, the days when you feel like crap is when you should wear something feminine and get out. It might help, at least it's better than lying on the sofa in sweatpants, right?

My socks are something that I thought was a good idea.. I bought a pair of tights and cut them of at the thighes, the plan was to get over-knees that would be kinda loose and fall down a bit. They wouldn't keep up at all, and rolled all the way down immediately, so I ended up with socks instead. Oh well..

You know the feeling of waking up in crispy white sheets, in a huge bed with almost too soft madrasses.. While your eyes are still closed you start to hear some unfamiliar noises. You open your eyes and streams of light shines through the heavy curtains. You look around in the room, first at the lamp in the ceiling, and then over to the nightstand that so nicely matches the bed, and everything looks new and strange. And then you remember that you're in a hotel room, you're on holiday! Aaahhh! Jump out of bed, open the curtains and look out on the new and unknown city your about to discover. And then there's the hotel breakfast, room service or the restaurant, either way not having to lift a finger yourself is such a luxury.

I just LOVE staying in hotels.

These pics are from where we stayed in Budapest, such a pretty hotel. And as wee speak I'm searching for a new travel destination. But it's not so easy to find the right place. Since the Norwegian summer has decided to not give us real summer weather, I have decided we have to go to somewhere warm. I was thinking some place quiet and peaceful, with pretty beaches and good food. I was thinking maybe a Greek island or something. But as I'm going through the destinations and looking at hotels I wonder; what's up with the brown wool blankets??! I really don't need a luxury hotel, but I don't want to get fleas either. The good thing is that by the end of the month all the travels will drop extremely in costs, so I just have to stay cool and not order anything until a good deal shows up.

But I can't wait though, can't wait to the next time I'll wake up in a hotel room:)

Just got this amazing vintage Armani blouse.

I'm addicted to vintage silk blouses.. You can never go wrong with a classic high quality piece.

Actually, coming to think of it this blouse is the epiphany of my style philosophy.

I don't want to be the sort of girl who shops till she drops, and makes a huge contribution to the consumer world. I don't want to be the girl who always throws herself on every trend. And I don't want to be the girl who wears polyester. Haha. I'd rather be the girl who searches for old treasures, both to find something special and also to think about the invironment. And I'd rather be the girl who has a modest closet, with mostly quality clothes. And you better believe that I'll be the girl who goes for silk, cause even though I'm not swimming in money a girl deserves some luxury in her everyday life ;)

Even though it's still July, I can feel fall sneeking in by some cold winds. I could cry about it, or I can make it as an excuse to buy fall clothes. Wearing knit in the evenings aren't too bad, but please don't let the summer end completely. I'm a real summer girl, can't stand winter. Flowers and fresh air. Walks on the beach, listening to the sound of the waves. Watching Ruby chase the birds, getting real proud of her self when she manages to scare them out to the water. Having a laugh. Eating fresh strawberries from the local farm. Getting warm in the sun, or more often, falling asleep to the sound of the rain. Peace and quiet.

New York Palace

Stayed at a nice hotel called New York Palace. It was pretty luxurious (lets just say that they're generous with the gold and marble), and we just had to enjoy it to the fullest. The restaurant was insane, and the spa was terrific. On Tuesday we ordered a couples romantic massage, haha, where we got aroma therapeutic synced massages, champagne, and they even closed the area for us to use all the facilities for two hours. Pretty funny. I think only in eastern Europe. It seems if you are willing to pay a little more there's no limits for how generous they are with the luxury down there. Personally I think it was just hysterical to live like that for a few days, and I swear I put my fancy silky napkin on my chest on the robe when doing room sevice for breakfast. Almost managed to convince myself I was the queen or something.

Pack light

I was so proud of myself when I for the first time actually managed to pack light this time.

You see, packing hasn't exactly been my strong side.. When I went to Israel in April I had about 10 kilos overweight, and no..I couldn't put it in my hand luggage, cause I already had my 8 kilos in there... Little did I know that I'd be wearing a spa bathing coat most of the time (I could have managed with some bikinis and a couple of small summery garments). And let me tell you, it wasn't fun to drag all of that around in the highly secured Tel Aviv airport where you actually have to lift your suitcase up on benches where they control every little thing you have brought. Like..every sock.
I swore to myself to never ever again bring too much when I travel.

So when we were off to Budapest I proudly and happily strolled through Gardermoen airport with the tinyest suitcase I've got, leaving only the tall shoes that I couldn't find room for in that small thing to bf. Good thing Hungary is very warm in June, cause I had only brought tiny stuff. I didn't feel too smart though, when I saw how little clothes I had when it hang there in the hotel room closet, but as it turned out it went allright..wow.

Moral of the story: Pack light. It might work.

Isn't it just lovely to let all the black stuff go, and use some softer coulours in summer?

I had to get me some new basics, something I know I'll use a lot. Beige and army green is good colours to spend money on, cause it goes with everything and every one looks good in it. I especially like army green as a neutral, it doesn't drain my face of life like black or grey does. And nude or beige shoes makes your legs look longer. Yeah, good plan;)

Sometimes I just don't want anyone to see me. Sometimes I hate wearing makup, and I can't stand the thought of trying to be a better version of myself. I just want to wear plane clothes and be invisible. Clean face, no nail polish..no crap. I don't understand how some girls always has it all together. I don't care to fix my face before I go and buy groceries, and I don't wear heels on a daily basis. Not that it's anything wrong with that, I kinda admire those girls. But personally I just can't do it. I need to be comfy.

When I first started blogging I thought I'd never publish a picture of myself. I didn't do outfit posts or anything like that. I just wanted a place to communicate I guess, and a place to put my inspirations. But people told me I should be more personal. So I tried, and in the beginning it was difficult for me. And then I got mails from you guys telling me that you liked my outfit photos, and saying I should do more of those. So I did, and it didn't kill me..haha. Actually I think it's fun to play blogger and photographer with bf.

But, I would never get completely personal on a blog though. It's not for me. And I can't do outfit posts every single day, cause sometimes I just hang around in jeans and sneakers and you don't want to see that, belive me. On the other hand, I can't dress to impress, I'm just not cut out for it. Well, I never thought I'd see the day, but now I've posted a makeup less photo, a closeup never the less. And I know this is as personal that I will ever get with you guys. So I guess there's nothing to hide, and you know telling the truth always feels freeing.
